Vision for the Future

Living in Heber is one of the greatest joys of my life. This community is truly that – a community. There is nowhere else in the world that I’d choose to live and work.

More importantly, there’s nowhere else that I’d choose to raise my family. About 20 years ago, my wife Kristi and I were deciding where we should raise that family. After a job interview in Nebraska, we headed west, landing in Heber around the late afternoon. It was autumn and a storm had just passed through the valley. The sun was peeking through the clouds over Timpanogos, revealing the expansive green fields. It was at that moment that we knew – Heber was our forever home.

Since that day, we’ve had the pleasure of building our lives here. We became a part of this place where we were welcomed with open arms as friends and neighbors. We raised our children to hold these same values, showing them that community is one of the most important things in this life. I love this community so much that I chose to run for City Council – I wanted to serve my neighbors and help better the place that has given me so much. This incredible decision has given me countless opportunities to collaborate with my friends and neighbors in ways that I didn’t think possible.

I’m proud of the civic efforts that I’ve taken part in, from our unified letter to UDOT to Heber’s Unity Week, where we get to truly celebrate this community. I’m also proud of the opportunities that I’ve been given to help the community on the ground floor, from heading out with snowplows on those cold winter mornings, to working along the trails when the sun comes back out and the wildflowers bloom.

Heber is a place that I will always work for and fight for.

Over the last four years, I’ve been reminded time and time again why this work is so important. That’s why I have decided to run for Mayor in the 2025 Election.

During my time on City Council, I’ve often found that my neighbors aren’t being truly heard. There’s only so much that the City Council can do, and it’s incredibly important that we have city officials who are truly looking out for our citizens’ best interests. We don’t want to be talked down to, or just told what we want to hear so that they can be re-elected. We want, and need, elected officials who look out for this city, not themselves. There are some heated debates and real issues at hand that will come up during this campaign, but as your Mayor, I promise that my leadership style would be rooted in what Heber City does best: community. It’s important that we, as a community, can collaborate, communicate and cooperate with one another.

We will ensure that communications from your city officials are not just published, but are vetted and approved by staff before going to the public. We will work to educate our friends and neighbors with data that is actionable, and with information that is truthful. The council will strive to collaborate with each other to ensure that opinions are shared and feedback is valued. Our meetings will be based on important discussions that solve problems and move the business of this great city forward. I’ve been honored to serve as your City Council Member, and I look forward to the next few months of conversations, debates and ideas – I promise to do it in a civilized way, with Heber City always at the center of discussions.

Let’s collaborate together.

Let’s cooperate with one another.

Let’s be the community that makes Heber City amazing.
